I was in Maine for the past week and a half and with the bitter cold my skin was feeling even drier than usual so I thought I would try some hemp seed oil instead of or in addition to the rosehip oil with lavender and geranium mixture I'd been using. First, it does smell a bit like pot, and it's a green oil. But I was using it liberally and I think it helped my skin feel less dry. I'm using it in a 90/10 combo w/ the rosehip mixture at the moment. Not sure if I'll stick with it but now that I'm back in San Diego my skin is less dry too. i heard lavender and geranium were both drying, which was surprising to me. overall my skin is in good shape other than feeling tight/dry for the first hour or two after cleansing. much fewer blemishes than before.
this tiny house is beautiful! although, I don't understand exactly how that pull-out toilet drawer works and I don't see a shower. good inspiration though.
http://aaronmaret.com/gallery/pocket-shelter/ I washed w/ honey this morning. cheeks felt a bit tight for a couple hours. skin looks good. there is one deep zit growing on my forehead but i have faith it will disappear within a few days as others have done w/ my new oils regimen. made another batch last night as previous one was used up: 6 3-ml droppers of Rosehip seed oil with 4 drops of lavender and 2 drops geranium. that should last about a week I think?
p.s. I did add a drop of tangerine essential oil to my palmfull of rosehip mixture when oil-cleansing last night. can't remember if this forehead zit showed up before or after that. last night I cleared out my medicine cabinet and reorganized my shelf too. feels good to have less stuff around and easier access to the stuff i use regularly. also i washed with my rosehip mixture this morning instead of honey and my cheeks feel much less tight than previous mornings. I wouldn't think honey is drying but maybe it is. maybe I will try alternating between OCM and honey every other morning.
I can't wait to clear out all my newly unused stuff from my medicine cabinet and replace it with my new hippie regimen:
jelly jar of finely ground oats essential oils blue dropper bottle of carrier/essential oil mix hair mousse & spray cotton pads? might not need anymore... deodorant this will leave space on my shelf to have separate containers for bobby pins and hair elastics and leave the big shell for big headbands. last night I mixed a slight variation on what I'd been using. current measurements are:
9 ml rosehip seed oil 2 drops lavender essential oil 1 drop geranium essential oil this morning my face felt very tight after washing with honey and applying this oil mix as moisturizer. it's so strange that using oil makes my face feel more dry than before. but skin is just about free of blemishes though which is a rare treat. hope it continues working so well! and at 2:40pm my face really isn't shiny which is a big change from before this skincare regimen. by the way, i cut out the tangerine essential oil from this mixture b/c there were varying opinions on whether it is phototoxic, and it's just not worth the risk at this point. almost at 3 weeks using only oils or raw honey for washing and only EPO or rosehip seed oil w/ essential oils for moisturizer. so thankful I stumbled upon this blog and decided to give it a try! http://www.minimalistbeauty.com/oils-specifically-for-acne-prone-skin/ this is an informative guide to the top 10 essential oils for skincare: http://www.examiner.com/article/10-affective-and-healing-skin-care-essential-oils-that-suit-most-skin-care-needs
makes me want to check out violet oil. I've always liked sandalwood so maybe I'll give that a try in the future too. I'm still a big fan of the oils. but my cheeks were feeling a bit tight/dry so I started using rosehip seed oil as a carrier instead of the evening primrose oil. rosehip is supposed to be good for drier skins (which I never thought I had) but my cheeks still feel a tiny bit tight/dry. not so much today but this weekend they did. I have been using a mix of 3ml carrier for each drop of essential oil. my current combo for the past few days was: 12 ml Rosehip, 2 drops lavender, 1 drop geranium, 1 drop tangerine. I have seen different reports--some say tangerine is phototoxic and others say it's not. I think I will eliminate it from my next mix just in case. or maybe just use it at nighttime.
most importantly, my skin does seem clearer. I still have occasional issues in the same areas I had problems before but they are much less intense and they seem to clear up much quicker this will be a stream of consciousness list of what items I want space for in my future tiny home. will likely edit frequently:
comfortable place to sit and eat table/flat surface for painting where I can leave the painting to dry. will need to be protected from curious kitten paws. windows to see the beautiful outside place for guitar, probably hanging on wall as decoration and hopefully I will start playing it again. place for nice camera to always be out or easily accessible so I use it a lot. I might need a shed for storing stuff like building materials, painting materials... I want the bathroom sink in front of a window with a medium-sized mirror hanging in front of the window for even natural lighting. I like the white beadboard paneling look with antique-looking black iron or Oil rubbed bronze hardware. a warm/hot bathroom is a must. and I would like a bidet somehow! doesn't seem like a lot of things. guitar, camera...space for makeup and skincare I guess. extra blankets and throw blankets. food storage--that'll take up a lot of space b/c I plan to buy in bulk and not go to the store more than once a week. so lots of shallow shelves that can be concealed would be good. these can probably fit in between wall studs. full-sized fridge/freezer? space for clothes & footwear. will probably only need sneakers, flip flops, hiking boots and rainboots? no idea what I'll do with all my cute and/or work clothes. actually will need to save some cute clothes for design client meetings. I think just 2 burners would be sufficient for my cooking needs, I rarely use more than that. and 1 of them could even be a cast iron stove maybe. I don't bake much so maybe just a 2-burner stove/oven would be good? I wonder if I'd be ok with just a big toaster oven. some bakeware dishes say not to use them in a toaster oven. space for cookware, but that could be out/decorative. |
