last night I mashed up half a brownish banana and a tsp. of raw honey. if it were more brown i think it would've been better b/c the hard bits of banana were prone to slipping and falling off my face. did seem to moisturize a bit.
I need to try this: add turmeric to your morning moisturizer for a "glow"
http://www.minimalistbeauty.com/minimalist-beauty-tip-7-turmeric-for-a-daily-glow/ overall my skin is looking good, but I'm still having some breakouts and I'm wondering if they're b/c of the EPO. So this morning I mixed up a cleansing mix of 40% EPO, 40% Rosehip, 20% Hemp. I'll add geranium and lavender oils tonight before I use it. The other problem could be I had added tangerine to the EPO mix I've been using, so I think I'll leave out tangerine tonight. I'll probably use twice as much lavender as geranium EOs.
for the past few days I've replaced the all-hemp oil with a 2/3 Evening Primrose Oil (EPO) and 1/3 hemp with lavender and geranium essential oils as my cleanser. followed with the rosehip oil mix as moisturizer. and I've cut back a bit on how much rosehip I apply. t-zone looks a little bit shiny but overall it feels good, not tight or dry. I like that I get some of the hemp's zinc content but the mix isn't as green or earthy smelling as all-hemp. last night i mixed up a half-ounce bottle of the EPO/hemp and I added a drop of tangerine, drop or two of geranium, and about 4-5 drops lavender.
i heard facial steams help moisturize your skin and it really worked, my skin didn't feel tight or dry at all yesterday. I poured hot water in a big bowl with a fresh rosemary stem in it and a few drops of lavender and tangerine essential oils. put my head over it with a towel to seal in the steam a bit and hung out for like 5-10 min. then I washed my face with oils like usual. face does feel a bit tight/dry this morning unfro
I used honey then hemp oil mixture in the shower again, followed by much less hemp oil mixture than yesterday. skin is much less greasy. waking up my skin was looking good and got a good blackhead extraction too--cha ching!
I have decided to try a facial steam from Mountain Rose Herbs. I added 1-2 drops lavender essential oil to 1 oz of hemp seed oil last night. just want to keep track of how my skin responds and remember what proportions I'm using. just the 1-2 drops of lavender really cut the nutty/hempy smell a lot too! I used honey & the hemp oil mix in the shower and then used hemp oil w/ a few drops rosehip mixture as moisturizer on damp skin after shower. a few parts of my face felt a little tight but overall not bad. my t-zone is oily this morning though. which is strange, but maybe i applied too much.
I've had a few minor zits for the past couple days so I thought I might need to bring back honey into my cleansing regimen. this morning I washed first with honey and then with oils, followed by more oils as a post-shower moisturizer. good news--my skin did not feel tight/dry today. I'm so glad to be using healthy organic oils from Mountain Rose Herbs.
I was in Maine for the past week and a half and with the bitter cold my skin was feeling even drier than usual so I thought I would try some hemp seed oil instead of or in addition to the rosehip oil with lavender and geranium mixture I'd been using. First, it does smell a bit like pot, and it's a green oil. But I was using it liberally and I think it helped my skin feel less dry. I'm using it in a 90/10 combo w/ the rosehip mixture at the moment. Not sure if I'll stick with it but now that I'm back in San Diego my skin is less dry too. i heard lavender and geranium were both drying, which was surprising to me. overall my skin is in good shape other than feeling tight/dry for the first hour or two after cleansing. much fewer blemishes than before.
I washed w/ honey this morning. cheeks felt a bit tight for a couple hours. skin looks good. there is one deep zit growing on my forehead but i have faith it will disappear within a few days as others have done w/ my new oils regimen. made another batch last night as previous one was used up: 6 3-ml droppers of Rosehip seed oil with 4 drops of lavender and 2 drops geranium. that should last about a week I think?
p.s. I did add a drop of tangerine essential oil to my palmfull of rosehip mixture when oil-cleansing last night. can't remember if this forehead zit showed up before or after that. |
