I'd like to plant lilacs for privacy from the street and campground next door. Mom mentioned they might require some soil amendments since it's sandy soil. This article suggests they might do well in sandy soil as they roots don't like staying wet. And I could get some from nearby freeport!
Welzel does sell a few potted or balled plants at the nursery, at 347 Lunt Road in Freeport, but the nursery is not always staffed, so call ahead at 529-1511. The website is lilacs.com.
other lilac tips:

best variety:
Choosing a Syringa Vulgaris cultivar or a Syringa Hyancinthafolia will get you the most true Lilac scent.
